Tyler, The Creator - Wolf
85

This album is interesting to say the least. Looking back, its an interesting crossing point from Tyler's old edgy lyrics to his openness seen on Flower Boy. The production is great. Some of Tylers best rapping is on here. Its a good mix of fun songs, serious songs, and interesting storytelling. It kindof represents camp well.

EDIT: After revisting this, maybe i was too harsh. Its a lot of guilty pleasure music. Theres still a sense of cash grab, but its not bad. A good portion of the EP is underwhelming though, with cheap sounds.

Favs: Bring U Down, Rodeo, Old Town Road, C7osure
Least fav: Kick it, f9mily, old town road being there a 2nd time

OG:
Everything about this screams gimmick. I mean the fact that old town road is on here twice (probably just to boost album sales) is proof enough. This is pretty much ... read more

very good for emo rap, and youtube rap too lmao

Little Simz - GREY Area

This shows Little Simz's talent, and she has a lot of talent to show. Being a female rapper from the UK, she is way different than any of her colleagues. Her lyricism and flows are great. You should definitely listen to this album.

Favorites: Offence, Boss, Venom, 101 FM, Pressure, Sherbert Sunset
I have no least favorites.

Lil Wazowski - Pray

aoty, this is peak meme rap

Kanye West - Graduation

Besides literally two tracks, this is a near perfect album. The production is top notch, continuing kanyes use of vocal sampling, but this time it is very electronically influenced, with Kanye even sampling Daft Punk. The album focuses a lot about Kanye becoming a superstar, from his come up in Champion and I Wonder, and bragging about his life in Good Life, and yeah, some of the bad tracks. Barry Bonds is passable, even with Lil Waynes annoying voice. With Hot & Drunk Girls, there is ... read more

Seb Harris - Everything's Wrong

You can tell that this is someones first ever project. Production is simple & everything sounds raw. The raw mixing helps to the vibe of the album, except when vocals become too quiet to hear. Flows and lyrics are basic, but seb shows promise with a couple tracks, like Soulo, & his rapping skills can grow farther. The problem with these kinds of projects is that it when it doesnt focus on one problem, it feels like a whole bunch of venting and not enough fixing. And with everything ... read more

Lil Skies - Shelby

Its just an eh project. A lot of the songs are forgettable, and others are lacking in quality. Definitely worse than life of a dark rose.

Fav: name in the sand (only song I really liked, besides i)
Least fav: nowadays pt 2

Joji - BALLADS 1
75

This was a big shock to everyone who was a fan of Filthy Frank and Pink Guy, but i like the new sound Joji made for himself. His lofi style in both production and singing can leave more to be wanted, but when it hits, it hits. Some of the tracks are catchy and fun, which is ironic considering the depressing vibe of the whole project (Cant get over you, no fun). But damn, Slow Dancing in the Dark, its a great emotional track that really shows a lot of promise.

One last thing i want to talk ... read more

Joji - Sanctuary

Its an improvement in sound. The best thing about the song is Joji's vocals, they are improved a lot. Lyrics are alright, can definitely be more substantial. I like the way he is heading.

Denzel Curry - 13
82

When Denzel goes for more aggression is him near his best imo, but he is great at many styles. This EP, despite being short, definitely delivers.

Denzel Curry - ZUU
77

Denzel here gives a fun tribute to his roots. This project focuses on making bangers, so it isnt as deep as ta13oo or imperial, but when Denzel makes bangers, he delivers. There is a lack of focus on lyrics here, & some songs like shake 88 dont bang as hard. Most of his features being local Miami talent, and delivering good performances too, show further what Denzel Curry knows about the rap scene.

WESTSIDE BOOGIE - Everythings For Sale
80

Boogie shows a lot of promise & talent. His songs are often introspective, but they are commentary into where he places into life around him. Boogie often admits to his failures, whether in relationships, or falling to stereotypes & habits. His rapping inst anything crazy, but it holds up for his more melodic approach. His beat selections are natural, yet simple, and somtimes dark. What he brings the most into the rap scene is his voice. Even when you hear Boogie's influences, his voice ... read more
