One of the weirdest album rollout tbh.
2 incredible songs released under a kinda confusing band name, both of which are NOT on the album and are a COMPLETELY different style than these songs.
And yet, the album is fucking incredible. Some of the best prog songs I've heard in years, some of the best production ever too. But it's such a whiplash that I can't rate it yet. I REALLY wasn't expecting it to sound like that. But it's definitely an incredible record that ... read more
there are songs i like less than others. but its still a 100. that's how good those songs are.
The first time I listened to this, I wasn't paying that much attention, and didn't quite like it.
Tried it again and holy fuck
Dancing with the Moonlit Knight and Firth of Fifth has to be some of the best songs of all time
Only complain is "The Cinema Show", which goes on for a bit long.
FIRST DISC ONLY (even tho there's some bangers on the second one)
Amazing album. Always come back to it, the best JPEGMAFIA project to date
It really is a good album, but it's the perfect example of a band where the first album is the furthest you can go with their sounds. It has everything this band could have to offer, and that's being confirmed by the others albums being worst and worst as time goes on. Personally don't have issues with the voice, as he had one of my favorite screaming voice in this era
My dad loved this album. So I had no choice but to listen to it a lot. Proved to me once again that I should always make my own mind on things, as I ended up loving it, and coming back to it quite often. It's addictive, it's nice sounding, overall really good from the band that made the god awful album Hail To The Thief lmao
Huge love for We Love You and G
EDIT: Bumped it to a 80. its addictive.
An American redneck album made by a guy that was constantly on meth, a band that didn't stand each others, and produced by the guy that produced Limb Bizkit's albums.
It's a masterpiece that keeps getting better with time, as it aged way better than most Pantera album, and stayed relevant and impactful on today's modern metal music. Now, if only everyone could execute it as good as them.
Also, fuck u Phil, but it's not like I'm suprised lmao
EDIT: 80 TO 99
This is The Smile at their creative peak. Every member does something interesting and innovative enough that makes the smile something else than a "radiohead side project". The way it's mixed, the way it's constructed, it's this good.
being a huge fan of the first album, i was really looking forward to this one.
I definitly had to listen to it more than once to understand and appreciate it. How do they do it? So good.
Best songs: Read The Room, Under ... read more
I always tried to avoid this album, thinking it was bad, because of what i've heard
To be honest, I love this album. The percussions are sooooo weird yet so addictive.
Moral: make up your own mind on stuff
Wow... Just wow...
When I first listened to this album, I liked it but told myself that its not the kind of album that i'll come back to.
It's been a month, and I dont think there's been a day without it.
people that complain about paper straws are fucking pussies
incredible album, some of the best riffs ever written
With its powerful vocals and its extreme instrumentals, Meir still manages to give us powerful and catchy riffs and stay coherent melodically, especially with songs like Undertro and Trepan. It also has more complex songs that are still very much succeeding their goals, such as Nekrokosmos. A perfect mix between the best part of metal like this.
I just can't give this album any other rating than 100, it's so good. Each song is so well contracted, it has the best love song ever (Something), it has an incredible medley at the end, etc.
Sorry I can't be edgy and say that The Beatles sucks, It's just too good.
Personal Favorites: Something, I Want You (She's So Heavy), You Never Give Me Your Money, The End)
Least favorite song (if I had to choose one): Maxwell's Silver Hammer (of course lmao)
