I didn't like how they released the entire album except for two songs ahead of time, but La Dispute is the greatest band of all time so they can do whatever they want. This 95 will probably evolve to a 100 over time.
Bro is so overhated, it's crazy. The songwriting is a little corny, but honestly its better than pretty much every major Top 40 artist. The dude has pipes and the ballads absolutely soar. Usually not my cup of tea and maybe the rating is a bit inflated because I don't understand the hate, but I might actually come back to a few tracks.
Pretty dynamite country album. Lots of different sounds. First two tracks absolutely carry this thing.
Whoever said this is "mopey and overlong but it has its moments" hit the nail on the head. I'm absolutely exhausted but Niagra Falls is one of the best songs the Weeknd has released in a long time. Take out a bunch of the unnecessary filler and this could be a very palatable album.
A nice little bedroom pop/indie EP. Every song is good in it's own right, but Practice is one of the better songs I've heard in a very long time. That single will be on repeat for the rest of 2025.
Can't believe this was released 7 years ago already. Shred Cruz is crazy and Metallica Rocks is one of the best songs ever written.
Disc 1 definitely stands out, highlighted by some nice pedal steel and features from Hank Williams Jr, Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, and Sierra Ferrell. I Had Some Help grooves, and the nod to classic country is appreciated. The solo pop-country on Disc 2 is a much more formulaic listen, bringing the albums overall score down. If he would have cut Disc 1 down to 14-15 songs and released it, this album would feel a lot less bloated and would be a much stronger contender for album of the year.
Another really cool scramzy styled album early in the year. Just Let Me Go's I.L.Y.S.M has a similar sound and is well-worth checking out if this album is up your alley.
A bit of a disappointing album from a guy who has so much star power. 2020s Social Cues was one of the best and most interesting songs I've heard in recent memory. While this album is filled with the same type of eccentricity, nothing really jumps from the pages. In spite of this, Teezo is still a rising star, and I'll be looking forward to the sophomore release.
I appreciate the new wave of pop punkers bringing the genre to younger generations, but most of these Travis Barker collaborations are simply devoid of any semblance of creativity. A fine listen, but not going to blow you away.
Bowling For Soup doing a bunch of covers, sounding exactly like you would expect Bowling For Soup to sound like. Why not?
Over 10 years without an album and I Call Fives has not skipped a beat. A long awaited release from one of the more underrated pop punk bands of the late 2000s. Nothing new or innovative here--just I Call Fives doing what they do and doing it well.
