Dionne Warwick - Just Being Myself

Good album. Ms. Warwick always possessed amazing vocals and the lyrical material on this one is right in tune with her unique talent. Standouts for me are: You’re Gonna Need Me, You Are The Heart of Me, Just Being Myself, and Don’t Burn the Bridge

Luther Vandross - Give Me the Reason
83

In my opinion Luther’s best project. Aside from his amazing vocals, Give Me The Reason succeeds with introspective lyrics about unrequited love. Standouts for me: Stop To Love, See Me, So Amazing, Give Me the Reason, and I Really Didn’t Mean It

Gladys Knight & The Pips - Neither One of Us

Simply one of the best albums in Motowns extensive catalog. The delicate strings along with the thumping funky backdrop paired with Gladys Knights soaring vocals puts this album on the plateau that few could even dream of attaining. Standouts for me are: Neither One of Us, It’s Gotta Be That Way, For Once In My Life, And This Is Love, and Who Is She

D'Angelo - Black Messiah

I fear that I may be biased on this review as I am the biggest fan of Soul, Funk, and Neo-Soul music, and therefore have always been a extreme fan for D’Angelo as an artist. Being both sublime ear candy as well as loud, aggressive, and poignant protest music. Standouts for me: Ain’t That Easy, The ... read more

Cameo - Word Up!

The conclusion, and in my opinion best installment in, Cameo’s synth funk trilogy. These fellas were fluid and excelling at multiple different styles on this album. The front half of the album is exceptionally funky. Standouts for me are: Candy, Back and Forth, and Don’t Be Lonely
