This is a good record, it's fun and well produced. But it's a marking for this year being defined by electropop, but not in a way which will be satisfying for the genre. This is the standard I will apply to any religious album I listen to from now on.
It also sounds better than 90% of the modern scene at the moment, that might have to do with the out of key singing and spoken word sections.
There are some fantastic moments on here, in particular for me it was definitely the start and the end. It's got great mixes, fun ideas and some flawless transitions. But suffers from EDM burnout heavily and there is Heavy Metal x DVNO which sound ridiculously off to me and just unfortunately not good. Unfortunately disappointing, superb production and clearly cool experimental design elements and ideas, but stays really safe and lyrically boring.
The samples are doing lots of heavy lifting for me, but the production is great, pacing is nice and it's very enjoyable all around
This album is produced fantastically, almost to its own detriment for me personally.
The style reminds me of Jamie xx quite a fair bit, but it's more stripped back which offers some beautiful moments but usually ends up making some of the songs feel like they don't have much structure to work off or even feel a bit directionless.
There's a bunch of great ideas on here but they don't feel like they have fully reached their potential for me.
I've listened to 600 albums as of this album.
This is the only one i've heard to sound like this
