On both glass beach albums, the music helps J play into the strength of her vocals, which is why both of those albums are so good. On this album, J stretches her voice to the extreme, and while it works in a lot of moments, it doesn't really appeal to me most of the time. A beautiful album, just not my thing.
Angst covers this album like a thick dust, adding a layer of intrigue to the album, but shorting its potential.
Femtanyl is an artist I generally tried to avoid in the past. Not because her music was bad or she was bad, but because of the negative bias I had against the genre of music she makes, digital hardcore. When I was first made aware of digital hardcore in 2022, the most championed artist of the genre was.... Sewerslvt. An extremely problematic artist with very hateable music. In general I associated the genre with bad people, as a lot of digital hardcore fans I knew ended up being abusers or ... read more
the trailblazers of hardcore REFUSE TO MISS 30 years in. these guys are unstoppable.
THEY STILL GOT IT!
After the monumental success of Knocked Loose's last album, I was scared that they were gonna soften their sound a bit or sell out in any way. But it seems like they're doing the exact opposite, making heavier and heavier music by the year. That's fucking awesome. This track in particular is absolutely insane, denzel kills it and there's actual chemistry between the two artists that play off each other PERFECTLY. If this means a new album, I'm so ... read more
The more I listen to this album, the more I realize just how impactful the message of this music is. This album is all about Puerto Rico and it's culture, the importance of keeping it safe and, more importantly, alive. Especially during a time of increased racism and gentrification in america, an album like this from a person like bad bunny is important. Don't overlook this album just because it's in spanish, it's meaningful and emotional. The Grammy win is so deserved.
Dracula could be improved as a duo, but the execution here doesn't realize that potential
Post-Sanctuary Joji makes music exclusively to blow up on tiktok, with no depth beyond that. I miss when Joji was making real songs on his albums instead of a lot of nothing with good tracks every 4th song.
I expect a "final project" to be focused and detailed, which this album is not. This album a mixture of over hyped, under developed, bloated works that doesn't have any energy or hunger at all. Listen to tracks like "I love her again" and "what if" and compare it to anything off of 4YEO or 2014 FHD. The energy and passion just isn't there. This album is mostly solid tracks, but far below the random singles he dropped in 2024/25, which is embarrassing for ... read more
Cole sounds like the type of guy to be the 3rd worst member of Wu tang clan, in a good way
It's probably a great song, but after you release a song that sounds like House, you CANNOT just leave us with that. GIVE US MORE THAT SOUNDS LIKE HOUSE PLEASSE
8 years after the controversial TESTING, the world's sexiest rapper A$AP Rocky drops DON'T BE DUMB, one of the messiest rollouts to date. From being finished in 2022, to dropping 3 singles in 2024, To finally properly releasing the album in 2026 as the year's first major release. I have a very mixed opinion on Rocky, finding his very highly praised production as just okay and his voice not super unique. His best album in my opinion, his 2015 project AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP, has a bunch ... read more
I listened to this album to honor the late great Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin's passing. I always meant to listen to black midi sooner or later, but unfortunately I never ended up following through until i heard of matt's passing, and his work practically shapes this whole album. His work is what makes this album so enjoyable, so losing such a creative artist so early is really a tragedy.
not as strong as CLOUDS but still a really solid track. Kinda boring production ig?
I didnt even realize that this was my 1,000th rating, but ig it is. ive been active on this website for 3 years almost, and AOTY has expanded my music taste so much and for the better.
for the album itself, I dont have much to say about it, i was just preparing to the upcoming release of Rocky's new album DONT BE DUMB. For the record i prefer this album over his first mixtape, but both are solid.
