Swae Lee - SAME DIFFERENCE

Perhaps it’s the expectation of Swae Lee’s, I guess you could call, solo debut album to be as masterful and fresh as his releases alongside his brother when he was releasing as Rae Sremmurd, but “SAME DIFFERENCE” does not even touch the mark.

To think over the last, somewhat, 10 years the amount of tracks that Swae Lee has offered to the world, whether it be apart of Rae Sremmurd or not, it has been proven that he is able to create hit after hit than resonates with the fans of his own, and those of the genre. Perhaps his time away from then to releasing his own solo material was a little too long as this album really isn’t anything to be excited about.

There’s a few tracks that were almost good but as a whole, the album is pretty bland. A few genre-leaning tracks wasn’t enough to give the album any identity and some come across cringe. The lyricism on this album comes across lazy and floppy and production doesn’t do much to give it any justice. It’s like any ‘oomph’ Swae had in releasing somewhat good music has withered away.

As a whole, the album has some OK moments, but conceptually, it’s disappointing. I didn’t feel any growth to Swae as an artist, both artistically and lyrically. The record just got more boring as the album cycled through and for me, there wasn’t really even a standout track. I have been left wondering if Swae Lee even has what was once what captured an audience in the first place, or has everyone else moved on from him?
