decent 9 - wow this is great HOLY SHIT LONG SEASON
the album as a whole was like a 9, incredibly well done japanese reggae, but holy fucking shit long season was like the best thing I've ever heard. where do I even go after hearing a song like that? it somehow manages to remain hauntingly beautiful for it's entire 40 minute runtime, and the minimalist elements help it to stay engaging and feel complete. when it finished all I could say was fuck, then the crowd started cheering and I remembered ... read more

yeah I forgot to review this one when I first listened about a month back but I really enjoyed this, definitely one of my favourite albums to come out this year, sure it lacks the polish and consistency of something like the new little simz album, but it really feels like it's pushing boundaries and doing something unique (not to say that the simz album isn't also great in a different way) but yeah I loved this, especially the singles, but honestly I wasn't really a fan of the Danny brown ... read more

little simz is back with an album that feels more refined and less maximalist then last year's "sometimes I might be introvert', which leads to a more consistent tracklist but also leads to an album with less memorable high points than it's predecessor

wow. damn was fantano right. this album is a lot to take in so its hard to really score atm but i have some things to say:

-the instrumentals in this album are genuinely jaw droppingly incredible, ranging from orchestral swellings, like in the fantastic opener 'little deer' and the start of 'queen of wands', to 80s esque synth pop, to jazzy compositions that feel vaguely reminiscent of bowie's 'blackstar', highlighted in 'boys in school'
