with great production and lyricism, Banks shows growth with her experimental take on her own style.
this was the album that i heard the most in 2019. I was anticipating it since she announced, and i was not let down, despite "Look What You're Doing To Me", that when i heard, before the album release, i was afraid that it would sound more like this track and not like the lead single, "Gimme", luckily i was wrong.
it's colorful and enjoyable, there's potential, but it's not that well executed,
some tracks are really good, but the album has the same amount of lackluster songs as well. it's interesting to hear all the references and mix of styles, but the record just don't have the appeal that i thought it would have.
the stand-out track for me is "Walking in a Circle", some dark and distorted vocals with a electronic production in contrast makes it the most memorable off the majority of the ... read more
with great harmonies and vocals, the sisters bring a refreshing sound to R&B.
the single choices were great, like almost all of the tracks here. The album contains a mix of fun, sassy, sexy and chill songs but it's still cohesive. with good references, they are making their own unique sound with a little bit of trap, pop, soul, and other genres.
really looking up to see the next releases of Chloe and Halle!
stunning. Moses in this record transports his listeners to another dimension with cosmic, grand and dreamy sounds.
with some great lyrical content and production as well, this album is definitely one of my favorites of the year.
in Gagarin, he talks about the meaning and purpose of life, the non-control of his own and, in parallel with the track title (the first man to travel to space), the cosmic and stellar production and vocal performance really adds up to the out of body experience that ... read more
great! if this is a new path that Lim Kim is making to korean artists who want to experiment more outside of the mainstream k-pop scene, i'm totally excited for the future of korean pop music.
on YELLOW, she wants her place on the top as asian women and it's over male dominance. it's powerful with some great production and vocal performance.
MONG, on the other side, it's calm, sexy, and beautiful, but still up Kim's and this EP's alley.
this record it's impressive and totally not expected from ... read more
sensual, beautiful, sexy, i really fell in love with this. in my first Jessie Ware album, she made me want to hear everything she has put out, it is really captivating.
With the sultry lyrics, this record makes a real smooth and pleasant listen in its ~53 minutes run. Really interesting and effortless, she seems where she belongs in this. great, really great.
this album is really forgettable, by the middle of the record i was afraid that none of the songs would be exciting here, and i was right. it was disappointing.
23 songs are too much, it's a overwhelming number of underwhelming songs.
maybe more listens will make me like this more, but for now i don't have the thrill to revisit it.
really beautiful cover art tho
great! Arca shows great production and lyrical meaning in this genre defying record.
they start the album with nonbinary, with harsh lyrics and chaotic production, then flips everything up in the next track, time: dreamy, calm, beautiful. this pretty much resumes what Arca wants here, to not fit in a box, but still have a notorious and cohesive mix of styles.
with great collaborations with Björk, Rosalía and Shygirl. Each one just adding more to the value of this record. Really ... read more
it got a little boring. the record it's solid, it has some interesting production, but i can't say that to the vocal performance here, it seems a little too lazy. kinda forgettable.
Kimbra always make me feel better, i don't know, it's something about her that gives me so much joy, the production and the vocals in this are very good, some really good lyrics as well.
i hope to hear more of her, since i've been listening to this for a little too long.
also, this cover art is stunning!
this is a masterpiece.
Lido Pimienta talks about the difficulties of being a woman so well in this, the lyrics in "Nada" -yo no le tengo miedo a la muerte, pues soy mujer y llevo el dolor adentro- are genius, her heart is open to talk about all her struggles and reclaim her crown as Miss Colombia.
"Pelo Cucu" is excruciating, she brings her personal problems as a latina, and talks about how marrying a white man will be good, cause her children, with pale skin will not ... read more
