[i don't think i ever expected to write 100 reviews. hell, i don't think i expected to write 50. despite music being something i adore and oftentimes get lost in, i never thought my opinion could be stretched out to anything more than the standard marge simpson "i just think it's neat!" BUT HERE WE ARE. anyway, i kind of blew my load on all of the introspective stuff with my 50th review, so i'll quit waffling on. the review begins now.]

If I had to pinpoint something about how I rate things, it's that I'm not exactly shy to hand out a high rating. I wouldn't call this a good thing, but I also don't think it's a bad thing. That said, I'm well aware that I've handed out 10/10s to things that are only 10s in the moment. I always ponder going back to my list of 10s and weeding out the ones that don't fully deserve that score. HOWEVER, there are some albums on that list that keep coming back ... read more
I'm not immune to biases. No one is. The bias I have that's becoming increasingly evident is that I will listen to literally anything that Viagra Boys puts out and I'll almost always give it a rating in the green. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Sadly, one pretty big exception is this band's sophomore album, Welfare Jazz. I glazed their first album up and down, and going even further back in their discography I glazed their first EP up and down, but in a ... read more
Yet another EP review, and yet another dive into my favorite ragtag gang of post-punk weirdos, Viagra Boys. You see, logic would dictate that after I reviewed Street Worms, I would go forward and review Welfare Jazz. There's a simple problem here though: I really don't feel like listening to Welfare Jazz again right now. HOWEVER, this simple problem has a simple solution! We're going back in their discography! Y'see, Street Worms was their first LP, but 2 years earlier, they ... read more
this isn't a full-effort review because if we're being honest, this isn't a full effort song. this song is deeply stupid. the bars on it are purposefully corny, the instrumental isn't anything to write home about, and literally everything about it down to the music video feels a decade out of date. that all being said: this is the definition of "dumb fun" and frankly the exaggerated braggadocio and bars about goddamn Sara Lee cheesecake are infectious in their ... read more
This EP is a delight and frankly I think you're all just mean.
Ween is a band I adore, and frankly one I should review more, but for now I'll keep it brief. The Friends EP was released as a 5 track amuse bouche before La Cucaracha. Now, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it: La Cucaracha sucks. It's boring, it feels 30 minutes longer than it really is, and only the last two tracks stand as anything I might want to listen to again. THAT BEING SAID, almost all of tracks on here are ... read more
