On much of Cry Baby, a tired Vince Staples explores the American dream. What is the American dream for a black man in America? Does it exist? If so, how would he approach it? Is it even approachable? Attainable? Or perhaps, is it relative? Does he get white picket fences too? How big is he allowed to dream? It's exhausting, as it was made to be.
Look, I love a lot of the beats here, but for an album with experimental in the name, there sure is a lack of experimentation in Peggy's flow.
The beat switch gimmick is on full display for this one.
A handful of some pretty solid tracks (Make Them Cry, Whisper My Name, Janice STFU, Make Them Pay, National Treasures) and an abundance of mediocre tracks. Molly seriously phoned it in for her contributions to Ran To Atlanta and Future was doing a whole lotta bullshit on the opening. Honestly, Ran To Atlanta was really a pretty huge disappointment, it's no return to form for the duo.
Genesis Owusu's debut album is infectiously funky, beautifully smooth, and effortlessly charming.
Lancey blows everybody here out of the water
Planned as the 2nd part of a double album release, WITHERED DELUXE: Marcescence was fully completed and slated to release on Sept. 19, 2025. However, on September 8th, 2025, the heavily decomposed remains of 14 year old Celeste Rivas Hernandez were found in an impounded Tesla registered to David Anthony Burke, otherwise professionally known as d4vd. Investigative journalists, online followers of Burke, and Hernandez' own family very quickly made an abundance of connections between the two; ... read more
Jack Harlow plays to none of his strengths and makes a fittingly weak R&B album.
Just like the previous entry, "I Came From Nothing 2" is uninspired, boring, and outright difficult to listen to sometimes. I mean really, go listen to a song like 'Keep In Touch' and tell me that it isn’t a chore to use your ears. It continues even further on 'Fuck My Tattoos', which is just outright annoying. I feel pretty uninspired to continue writing this review.

A generally very weak start to Young Thug’s legendary career, "I Came From Nothing" largely lacks anything that makes Young Thug such a captivating rapper. Listening to this project does not make you realize how big an impact Young Thug would end up making on trap music, having not yet stylistically evolved into this ultra versatile enigma of an artist that redefined the genre. "I Came From Nothing" instead opts to be a clone of a Lil Wayne mixtape, and it succeeds at ... read more
First of all, incredibly annoying that the only version of this album on streaming is the 2009 remaster that has some of the worst hard panning I have ever heard in my entire life.
The Beatles' first album, "Please Please Me", is a largely inoffensive outing that sounds like it would be best heard on the car radio. Don't think this didn't work in their favor though, because the title track did launch them into stardom, setting in motion one of the best musical acts in ... read more
"Piss In The Wind", Joji's first album since leaving 88rising, is his best so far, capitalizing on much of what's made him such a sought after artist in the years since his debut. Joji polishes his pre-existing pop/R&B blend on songs like 'Past Won't Leave My Bed' and 'Hotel California', while introducing a new, more rage oriented, R&B sound on songs like 'PIXELATED KISSES' and "Sojourn"; both contribute to a generally ... read more
Don, while still managing to maintain his captivating performance, loses some of his curating ability, creating an album with some filler that makes it feel like a real slog to get through at times.
What Is Love? is the beginning of a young Juice WRLD's short-lived musical career, and to put it bluntly, you can tell. Released under his old moniker "JuiceTheKidd", the production is pretty poor, and the vocals are largely terrible, though the intro track, Forever, which is also the first track he would ever release, does stand out amongst the rest. In contrast, Make It There is far and away the worst, with the nearly 5 minute runtime making it an absolute chore to get ... read more
Dude is wearing a shirt with a swastika made out of electrical tape on it in the music video
No, this does not sound particularly out of the box for Bruno Mars. Yes, it DOES sound fantastic. Bruno Mars is a master at what he does, and though his last two singles may have made you think otherwise, he is still just as good as he used to be.
Often treated like the black sheep of A$AP Rocky's catalogue, TESTING is a grossly overhated album that, like every other full length project from Rocky, has a lot to offer. Whether it's a song like Distorted Records with bass that could blow out an irresponsible person's speakers, or a more slow and melancholic song like Changes, Rocky still consistently proves his worth as an emcee that sounds like no other.
TESTING by A$AP Rocky is: An underrated gem that deserves it's ... read more
Wonderful little EP from Telepathics. I love the twinkling production on Reach and Sparrow, and the vocals on Me, You, She, & Someone are very pretty. My only real complaint is that it isn't longer.
Pebble Bed by Telepathics is: Short and sweet!
I feel a little conflicted with Safe in the Hands of Love, particularly some of the production choices. Large amounts of noise can often be utilized to create a unique sonic atmosphere, something you see often in music that is deemed to be "alternative", though on this album, I only really see it dragging certain songs down. The outro track, Let the Lioness in You Flow Freely, is the best example of this; the egregious amount of noise in this track is headache inducing at best. Other ... read more
