I think my brain is on fire.
I think back in 2020 I listened to this album and I didn't get it at first but now I feel like a sense or urgency and anxiety when I hear some of this songs sounding so... wild but in a unique way. Like this is one of the first "true" noise rock LPs, and that transcribes to wild performances but sometimes weird details that connects to the concept of the lyrics and I think the message of anti-war put into this project. This ain't weird as the self titled album from This Heat, but the weirdness reminds me of modern bands like Black Midi or others in that style of noisy rock. This is one of the defining No Wave albums even though the band aren't from NY but the grooving sound placed in weird sound pallets are really like engaging and visceral, like any other past punk album but in this case would be the least accesible post punk album I ever heard. I think there are some tracks that I don't think are the most engaging like Radio Prague (my least favorite track), but the run of track from Makeshift Swahili to A New Kind Of Water left my brain on fire.
What a wonderful listening experience like being at the edge of my seat throughout almost every minute of this LP.
