This was a really weird time, and I really don't know how to feel. I think black midi may just not be all my thing, but I can still appreciate this album for what it does. It's very creative, and some of these compositions feel like horror movie or thriller tracks. I did find Geordie Greep's vocals to get a bit repetitive over time, except for 27 Questions. It's like putting 2 bootleg plays on at the same time, and telling a jam band to go fucking wild, which results in some cool moments, but also some equally eh moments. That sounds negative and I did really like this album, especially at the start. Sugar/Tzu was the standout for me. The bassline with the brass at the beginning is really interesting, and feels like a better start to the album than Hellfire. Eat Men Eat also feels like a horror story at a campfire, and I can admire the story it tells (even if I had to look up if he could say that one line (he can)). The writing is good, and the compositions are good, and that deserves recognition, but the final project is just decent to me and not much else. I'm glad I gave it a shot, and it's definitely not bad, but I kinda wished it had kept the energy near the start than near the end. Still pretty neat time tho.
