I was honestly pleasantly surprised to find that Violator was as well of a put together album as it was! Of the past five albums I've listened to, I've come to expect a "1 really good song, a handful of mid songs" vibe from Depeche Mode. I had heard that Violator was by far their best, and the Fantano 10 definitely made me wonder if it was genuine or just mob mentality. Anyways, I can safely report that this was good. Was it the masterpiece most people claim it to be? No, but it's by far the best Depeche Mode album. Why? Because it feels like a complete piece. This is much less of a "collection of songs" album. It feels nasty and sinister with kind of creepy songs like Blue Dress and World In My Eyes, mixed with wonderful songs like Personal Jesus and Clean. it paints this kind of weird picture through the whole album. Honestly, I was shocked to find this released in 1990, because it feels like it's at least 15 years older than it actually is. I don't think every track hits, and some songs are just decent, but for what it is, this is a commendable release. Good job, Depeche Mode!
