Great name for this record, and a perfect descriptor for where Noah finds himself after the success of Stick Season. This album explores the disparity between who he is now and the small town Vermont origins; a struggle of imposter syndrome and self-doubts about still being who he was before. At times this is indistinguishable from Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter, but there are some standouts tracks that do the sound justice. I don’t mind a non-original sound as long as it’s done well and still lines up with the artist, and Madison Beer delivers something personal and enjoyable in that vein- something that also doesn’t overstay its welcome.

This is my first shoegaze listen, and where the hell have I been? Fantastic stuff. These tracks use the misty dirtiness perfectly to encapsulate feelings of teenage angst and nostalgia. Absolute banger.

Great writing, sweet melodies, and the girl’s voice is pure bliss. Just so lovely, peaceful, and grounded. Love this album.
