The first album of Natural Snow Buildings is a cinematic (and mostly instrumental) undertaking that falls very much under the post-rock umbrella to my ears. It plays like a soundtrack of sorts, led by delicate guitar melodies and regal strings, often accompanied by ambient undertones. These characteristics define Ghost Folks for nearly its whole runtime, making for a consistent, pleasant sounding listen.

Public Circuit boast a more linear sound on Modern Church than its predecessor…punchy beats, bright production, and one fun, lively jam after another…the latter thanks largely to Ethan Biamont’s already imposing rizz game dialed up to eleven here!

While not initially hooked on Clairo’s music, her new album and its namesake Charm won me over in a tremendous way this year. Slow, soulful, organic…all excellent descriptors of a sweet, whimsical album topped off by Claire’s hushed, intimate voice.
