If I was rating the album off message and it’s importance id give it a 10/10, and while I can digest and reflect on that message, sonically to me it feels like Vince makes the exact same song 10 times, with the ones that take interesting creative inflections being highlights and repetitive one note tracks being just passable, with one exception, but nothing i’d come back to.
Kenny mason when he really goes in is one of the better rappers in the game. The only thing that takes away from his music is his spotty ability to write / sing more hooky, melodic, chilled out tracks, with those being incredibly hit or miss. With that being said, every time he raps on this project, it’s great, with lots of bar heavy and fun tracks I added to the playlist. This project saw Isiah pick a sound and stick to it for almost the entire project, and unfortunately, that means taking away his lush filled production and incredible vocal layering, making 90% of this for me at least being some really boring stripped back rap. I was very upset at how samey, boring, and repetitive these songs were, with almost all of them having 30 seconds of nothing at the end of the track.
