If I was rating the album off message and it’s importance id give it a 10/10, and while I can digest and reflect on that message, sonically to me it feels like Vince makes the exact same song 10 times, with the ones that take interesting creative inflections being highlights and repetitive one note tracks being just passable, with one exception, but nothing i’d come back to.
Kenny mason when he really goes in is one of the better rappers in the game. The only thing that takes away from his music is his spotty ability to write / sing more hooky, melodic, chilled out tracks, with those being incredibly hit or miss. With that being said, every time he raps on this project, it’s great, with lots of bar heavy and fun tracks I added to the playlist. In terms of the more melodic tracks, I love anything Dominic Fike, so hearing him and Kenny having incredible ... read more
As someone who's been a fan of Drake's Music for some odd 3 years now, turning the corner on being a no life hater right before the beef started ironically enough, I've been anticipating his solo works for a minute now, with me just having missed out on For All The Dogs, so ICEMAN to me was my first solo project I've fully been able to immerse myself in from one of my favorite artists in the moment.
Frankly, I think the blind hate this album gets for being associated with ... read more
This project saw Isiah pick a sound and stick to it for almost the entire project, and unfortunately, that means taking away his lush filled production and incredible vocal layering, making 90% of this for me at least being some really boring stripped back rap. I was very upset at how samey, boring, and repetitive these songs were, with almost all of them having 30 seconds of nothing at the end of the track. You can tell he still has something in the tank with songs like MOM and Cameras, which ... read more
For this being a posse cut, its kinda wild how little variation there is on this album. The highlights for me are whenever Denzel has a verse, the lowlights mostly coincide with A$AP Ferg. Theres some quality on this album, but a lot of mediocrity and painful verses from Scythe members. A$ap Ferg gotta retire himself btw im tired of him hootin and hollerin with no good verses despite having 3 features on an 8 song album.
The Mountain really expresses just how good Gorillaz is at taking a creative concept and perfecting their style surrounding that theme without overstaying their welcome at any point. Every track is a true continuation on each other with incredible beats, rapping, and melodies that make the whole listen feel exactly like the experience Albarn set off to create. Theres some ear candy on every song of this album, and a lot of incredible rapping from Black Thought, Omar Souleyman, and Trueno, who I ... read more
Not gonna rate this bc im not tryna have 2 of the same album in my top 4 this year but its icon with 2 incredible songs at the end of it. 90/100 as opposed to my prior 87/100
Baby Keem in has past projects had high highs and incredibly low lows, and the more mature baby keem we hear on ca$ino knows how to keep the energy that made his good songs so good while cutting out the bad parts that made some of his songs genuinely unlistenable. This album is consistently good, with the only lowlights being features by too $hort on a banger in $ex appeal, and kendrick lamar on HOUSE MONEY. That hook is bad. Kendrick lamar and momo boyd are great on good flirts tho. A lot of ... read more
I absolutely love Brent’s vocals on this project, the dude absolutely knows the type of song and vibe he excels at. It’s not anything groundbreaking for him, but he’s making his type of music to the best of his abilities on Icon. I especially love the more groovy tracks like other side.
The lyrics beats singing and features on this album are effectively perfect. I’ve always loved J. Cole’s storytelling, and his bars have only wisened after all these years, creating one of the most bar heavy projects ever. If this is the last J. Cole album (it’s a boy don’t count its prolly a collab album), it was a damn good way to go out.
OCTANE - Don Toliver
Talk about a high OCTANE second half of an album right guys!
I’ll take the crickets as a compliment to how good that joke was. Anyways,
Theres literal crack in the pleasure’s mine beat dude.
Anyways pt 2, this album for having such a boring middle atretch of music is actually quite a vibe and really good music from don toliver. I really enjoy some of the melodic cuts toward the end more than I usually do, and all in all this album is way more consistent then ... read more
Plastic Beach by Gorillaz is incredible. This album has everything that makes Gorillaz great in it, executed near perfectly with only one real miss. From the constantly changing production styles with both serious instrumentals for some songs and unreal, cartoony synths for others, this album never fails to sound fresh for a different reason every relisten, truly making this album one of a kind in a sense. On top of that, the messaging of plastic beach has never been more evident, with all ... read more
I love this album. Tory’s vocals and aesthetic for this album is on point, and the whole album gives me the audio experience of what I imagine one of those 80’s futuristic neon sunsets sound like, so I guess one of the songs being called “pink dolphin sunset” is pretty damn accurate to the sound I have in my head. I don’t really have that much to say this is just a genuinely great synth pop / r&b album.
Gonna end this by saying i’m aware tory lanez is a ... read more

It’s been EIGHT YEARS since testing… thats crazy. However, with that in mind, this album being the result of what has been 8 years of work and 8 years of disastrous rollouts is pretty disappointing. Rocky feels like hes trying to replay his own hits, rapping over asap rocky beats and saying asap rocky bars that just dont stand out too much for me to walk away from this album truly caring. It’s a solid album, it’s nothing crazy, and I think that 8 year wait ... read more
What Happened To the Streets? - 21 Savage
I think American Dream is 21s best project, but id be remiss if I dismissed a lot of his more trap focused albums in that discussion. In this album, 21 goes back to something closer to his roots in trap. Unfortunately, going back to the roots also brings back some of his problems with being boring as hell. And I know 21 isn’t a lyricist but he really doesn’t say much of anything on any of these songs, which I know hes capable of, if you ... read more
