Passable. This isn't a sound that we haven't heard from her though. Typical pop number. A little bit lackluster, but it's not bad by any means. It's smooth and well produced, but ultimately goes in one ear, out the other. If it came on the radio, I wouldn't turn it off though, it's still good. I just wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it.
this might end up being my fav olivia song by a mile honestly. didn't know she had this type of song in her, but it's most certainly welcome. i love a gratifying build within a song, and the build in the cure is beyond gratifying. perfection.
this would be a gorgeous song he didn't insist on using heavy autotune.. point proven when julian does a lou reed impression on the second verse and it actually sounds good? if there is autotune there, it's tastefully done here. the fact that the song is 6 minutes and has the autotune is equivalent to being in a torture chamber
i appreciate that olivia isn't sticking to the whole break-up / angry at him type narrative that she had going on GUTS, and instead went on to a more heartfelt cutesy type narrative, even if there is still kind of a melancholic factor in the lyrics. i also appreciate that she's doing something differently musically, and honestly the final product came out beautifully- even if it's not as explosive or bold like some of the stuff on GUTS. really great song!
