This type of jazz, conscious hip hop is best when the message is good, production is beautiful and rapping is smooth. Luckily, Mavi's Pilot does all of that pretty well.

The world would be a better place if all conscious hip hop was able to sound as good while still conveying messages as importantly as Aler Himself. This guy just needs to make a couple bigger hits, market himself on larger platforms than AOTY (thanks for the recc btw Aler, shit was fire), and I am confident he will go places. Fantastic project.

With a bit less of an emphasis on the rage and more on the synth-heavy melodies and electropop elements, this project felt a bit more repetitive and boring than hollis’ last for me, but still provides a great listen for its half hour runtime.

You get what you’ve come to expect from Earl Sweatshirt in this project. Nothing particularly bad, but also nothing particularly outstanding.

Even though it’s not necessarily intended as a studio album listen, the cohesion and consistent bangers between the tracks are classic Zel and provide more than enough entertainment for the mere 17 minutes the project runs for.
