under appreciated and extremely misunderstood based mostly upon wrong expectations from (until than) “grunge band”.
But this is what 3 gifted musicians sound like when they grow up and start experiencing life, music and creativity little differently.
When people still believed in the music they were creating. Sincere, raw, catchy, grungy 😎.
During the process of splitting-up as a band (amicably), only true artists like Brand New can record such a triumphant LP.
Fit to be a closer in many ways than one.
After being silent for so long they truly managed to pull off, quite possibly, the best record of their career.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time. And having a clue how to write a good rock song didn’t hurt neither.
Fascinated by Alex Turner and his ability to present, pretty much, total musical transformation like something that his band so badly needed, when in fact nobody would say a word if they continued in the tracks of “AM”.
Raw, rare, original - simply outstanding! Such a shame this was their only LP release. We got Lost Under Heaven out of it, so it’s not a complete waste.
Not nearly as bad as it is presented, simply not as good as Dredgs earlier stuff.
