Can't believe this doesn't have a single review here. Some of Darkest Hour's best tracks land on this one and it's something of a classic in its own right; but as a full album experience it can be a bit exhausting - songs are on average about two minutes longer than they needed to be and with little to break up the constant pummeling onslaught it can all sort of bleed together. Soda Lake With Game Genie is transcendental shit beyond this mortal coil, 11/10 - the rest is a bit of a mixed bag.
Wow, I haven't been this impressed with these guys since Parallax II.
Typically I enjoy a BTBAM record in spite of the vocals, which mostly hover between 'meh' and tolerable with the occasional flash of brilliance- here they're an absolute highlight, and easily some of the best of their whole discography; despite some of the cleans sounding uncomfortably similar to James LaBrie.
