Mavi - Pilot
another step in the trend of the past 2 years of fun more loosely put together -mixtape- esc albums, that kendrick really really popularized at the end of last year. It also maybe coincidentally has been after most of these artist most emotional/personal albums, its a funny pattern. (2000->lonely at the top, MM&TBS->GNX, Chromakopia->DTTG, TFS->GDLU(only kinda), MMESYF->KOTMS)
This album really reads as a celebration, shadowbox has a lot of hope on it, and he ... read more
To be fair i alwaus felt the "uzi falloff" while there was a dip was majorly overblown, Pink Tape is freaking fun and a roller coaster, if you cut like the 3 really embarrassing songs its a pretty good album
And eternal etake 2, its wasnt great, but i think he actually tried some cool stuff on there, i think its very redeemable
That said, this is a really quality song, im super excited for this next era
hard hitting boombap, L basicially is in a jay-z bag for this verse and Nas has a lot of strong cool bars
Anyone know what timeframe the prodigys verses on this project were recorded?
Hot beat, and havocs voice still sounds great, Prodigy has his bars and effortless flow but his delivery sounded a bit unconvincing to me, maybe thats a fault of the beat being made after the verse
Still excited for the album though, love mobb deep so much
Kinda an aoty hating pop-country moment, but this is a good song! the beats not the greatest, but the idea that a time in your life will always be with you no matter how far it gets from you is a interesting idea, and i think that alone make this song concept cool. And i think if you take it at face value it can sound a little possessive, but i wanna give him more credit than that. Its a nice song
im off and on with how i feel about ab-soul as a rapper and i really dont what i feel about his verse here, right now i think i like it? Joey does great, and the drums really have a kick while hes rapping i love it. And then i think rapsodys hooks like really enjoyable good stuff, im really hyped for the project tonight!
Ironicially probably my most played kanye song, if you have spotify local files, and you cancel premium itll still keep the local files you had loaded
At the time i had 2024 and hoodbyair by carti, get high rule tha world by wayne, and bittersweet poetry.
I havent really listened to kanye in the past year, but my school had bad service and whenever i lost service id pull up my four local files, and id listen to this one to calm me.
its a really cute song, that first verse especially has some ... read more
Literally a perfect beat, i mean THAT GUITAR??? im not historically like the biggest freddie fan i dont think hes the most interesting as an mc, but like damn he just always picks such ridiculously amazing beats, and on this song specifically he had some nice bars and his consistent deep delivery like i cant complain, its great!!!
Very underwhelming had me relistening to forever story songs to make sure he didnt trick me.
In this collection of track jid fails to find the soul and humour that combine to make the forever story great, it just seems like jids trying to prove he can rap well again
like yeah that beat on Animals is RIDICULOUSLY hard to rap on but jid you still let eminem body you on it. (yeah the beastiality bar is corny thats it, but if you actually listen to how he flows you can tell ems a genius)
Lisa is ... read more
theres like a specific genre of specificity in lyrics where outwardly its like nothing wrong with it but for some reason its the biggest ick in the song and thats the "blue jeans" line
OMG OMG OFFSET YOUREEE AHHH
Ever since the passing of takeoff a few years back offset has been super hit or miss with me. Quavo with rocket power, i thought was a great solo outing, set it off on the other hand, although with its peak i thought was riddled with flaws. Fast forward to now, offset sounds invigorated, with a kick ass beat to go with him, him and jid both just go off, i feel actually confident about this 100, good shit and proably top 3-4 in offsets solo catalog maybe higher who ... read more
Sidenote - are the "ballerinas" in the first songs hook, and in this music video like a kanye diss(like the runaway video)? im just tryna think if it means anything
Wow
now i didnt love ace trumpets, but this THIS is what i was looking for
Push and malice go freaking crazy and that beats is hot.
Fun fun fun album, Tecca swaps betweens teo main track archetypes the "dance till your heart stops// song of the summer" and the like ethereal floaty song.
And wow does tecca just work perfectly on that.
the modern rap scene is known for its autotuned soaked vocals but I feel like the way its coems out with tecca is just really really smooth, in a way no one else really does. Tecca just breaths bravado and charisma on this album, and there were multiple really funny lines on this ... read more
Just gonna say, from an aesthetics perspective quad is KILLING this rollout.
That said forgone, another showcase of quads amazing use of instruments. First half isnt that special to me but its in quadecas standard of quality, then this pocket it hits when it goes underwater in the video about halfway through is AWESOME and then the outro is cool
"oh shit mavi and earl dropped a song"
"oh damn its only 90 seconds"
"OH DAMN THAT BEAT"
"OH DAMN"
Just saying being like the biggest artist ever, making 2 classics and tons of quality and somehow hes still 0-10 on album covers
if it was a minute shorter so its more of an interlude itd be a lot less grating and funnier in the context of a album, but i just cant imagine wanting to hear this whole thing in the middle of an album
I feel like since Joeys in the buzz right now i just wanna say DONT count joey out, hes not an old man, hes 30 lol.
Jay-Z released the blueprint at 31, future released ds2 at 31, J. Cole was a month from 30 when 2014 released, i mean fuck Pusha T got his first number 1 at age 44 theres not a time limit on these things, I really think he might suprise everyone in the next album cycle
