bloated, egotistical and overtly coked up on excess and hedonism, Guns N Roses come out with one of their most posh and arena-ready shit tunes. this is shit. i shouldnt like this. its empty, shallow meaningless jarble. Its rock n roll taken to its most exaggerated extreme, creating a longwinded and frustrating album with sshit lyrics and shit people behind them. eveyrthing about htis album just screams anti wintrycore. i should not like this album at all.
i cant stop listening to it. why. what ... read more
this album is responsible for giving me a nnew nervous tick. whenever i get nervous i start waggling my water bottle the same way Ian Brown waggles around his microphone. thanks for that Stone Roses!!
I've made a plea to myself that I would never listen to this album until I am in a good place in life. I did this so that I would have some sort of incentive to get my life together. I have not listened to this album in months. I am dying. This album makes me so happy I just want tto be able to llisten to shit again so badly. im only rating this album in the hopes that i can somehow feel happy jjust by reviewing the album. i ddont think its working. uuugghghhhhh ddamn you weeezer
My favorite thing about this album is how it feels like it lives in its own world. Ive listened to plenty of glitchy electronic IDM, but i dont think ive ever listened to an IDM album that sounds so...lively. This thing is full of organic-sounding beats, which use an assortment of different instruments ranging from woodwinds to flutes to pianos. Oh boy oh boy are there are LOT of pianos on this album. In fact, about half of the tracklist is full of 2-3 minute organ interludes Many people argue ... read more
The Smiths make music for people who cry when they dont cook scrambled eggs correctly.
i like this album but some tracks like Never Had No One Ever, Vicar In a Tutu, and Cemetry Gates just do not click with me. ESPECIALLY Never Had No One Ever, i fucking hate that song so much. Everything else ranges ffrom decent to ggreat. i never understood the whole idea that The Smiths write "witty and nihilistic lyrics!!" because i dont hear it. maybe its just because i dont get the references ... read more
i want to have sex to this album. any album that makes me want to have sex is a 10/10
this album really feels like "WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY PEOPLE BAD" at times. but the solid tunes make up for that fact. this doesnt change the fact that father john misty is an egotistical bitch. but i like the music he makes. i just realized that a lot of the musicians i like have very massive egos. i feel like this says a lot about me. shit. do i have an inflated ego? shit. shitshit.
also Leaving LA is the best song on tthis album, i love how meandering it feels. it honestly feels ... read more
i get that this is supposed to be a dark and brooding album but whenever i listen to this, the only thing i can think about is ian curtis dancing and i start laughing to myself.
this album is magical. i dont think theres ever going to be an album like this for another couple of decades.
The world is falling apart. The complete disarray of the political landscape and the general atmosphere of nihilism that looms over the world is a clear indication that the future does not look bright. The world is ending. We are all going to die, and we are powerless to our inevitable fate. So before we die, before we sacrifice our fate to the void and continue on knowing the state of the world we live in, before we fall apart, let's just hold each other. I don't know what's going to happen ... read more
Matty Healy and the gang bring forth one of their most sprawling, expansive albums yet. its an album that tries to be so many things, and ends up being nothing. its an album thats confused by itself. the tracklist is a mess, consisting of hardcore rock, jittery ambient pop, country folk-pop, intimate indie balladry, emo electronic, dreamy nostalgic pop, 80s synth pop, EDM, house music, and UK garage. all of these genres are haphazardly thrown together, and come out as either half-formed messes ... read more
I listened to this album for the first time when I was going out for an evening run. I ran so fast that someone asked me if I was being chased. Then I ran away, and bumped into a kid. He started crying and I panicked. The kid's parents then scolded me and I felt incredibly embarrased. I came home that day a disheveled man, but at least i listened to a pretty great album.
Fuck. Yes.
This thing is awesome. the last strokes album sounded like grey mixed with brown. This album however, sounds like the entire rainbow got squished into one album and is now beaming into the listener's eyes through Albert, Nick, and Nikolai's kickass guitar playing. i love this album. holy fuck this thing is awesome. the colorful production of Angles makes for some of the most lively, fastpaced, exhilrating songs that the strokes have ever made. this thing feels and sounds like the ... read more
this is a weird album for me. for their third album, the strokes stray away from their garage alternative rock sound and go into a more post-punk inspired sound. and while this makes for some interesting songs, i cant really say most of these songs are all that good. most of them are kinda just out one ear and the other. there really isnt anything that substantive on this album for listeners to latch to. there isnt any interesting mixing or instrumentation, its just the strokes doing what they ... read more
This album is on fire. someone get the fire exstinguisher!!!!!! This album is basically just more of Is This It, which is not a bad thing at all. One thing i noticed while listening to this album though is that the songs here have a much more dense mix than the ones on Is This It. While the songs on Is This It feel like these open, vast worlds, the songs on Room on Fire feel like very dense, tightly-packed rooms. The instrumentation on this albums feels very tangible and concrete, which adds to ... read more
i dont think there has ever been an album so emblematic of everything that i love about alternative and garage rock. there is not a single bad song on this album. tracks like The Modern Age and Hard To Explain are some of the greatest alternative rock songs ive ever heard. this thing is fucking awesome. i love how the guitars feel and sound differently to fit the vibe of each song. songs like When It Started and Soma give off a warm, pleasant vibe similar to the feeling of the summertime. then ... read more
