is this what they call kin euphoria
[originally written december 30 i don't remember why i deleted it]
the cover art made me really not wanna listen to it but i caved in… i had really low expectations for this project given the fact i wasn't all too fond of the first few ep's + draining love story remake but this is way better than i expected it to be! it reminds me the most of "the world is fvcked" with the more hardcore influences, i'm fond of those. there's still a clear formula but ... read more
strongest case of "whimsical =/= ironic"
everything about this album + arg attached to it is wholly sincere in telling the story of this domestically neglected girl who latches onto these aura farming demons, which sincerely does happen irl (minus the demon part) (for now) just bc they're introduced to her in a kinda silly way (cum ritual) doesn't make the rest of the story any less sincere + the production any less heavy and melancholic . it sounds like edgy animation meme ... read more
i'll defend the cover with my life but i won't pretend the actual music is above average
decent production and i like the rock parts but the quirky random potato lol samples take me out + the lyrics sound like they were google translated from 5 languages and then back to english. overall just a worse version of aero gros m's chocolate hearts and stag beetles
this would be an 80 if the highly distorted parts had any semblance of low end
the chuuni transfems who spent quarantine in an unsafe environment and rotted their brains in front of a screen to escape get this one
uboa's albums always feel like movie soundtracks to me. everything prior to 2020 conjures tortureporn, "the flesh of the world" has similar themes but had a more DIY "75 shots" atmosphere to it and a semblance of political backing, and "impossible light" is giving psychological horror but with an ultimately positive message… so what is "the dissolution of eternity"?
xandra herself says it's a love story. see genius, in which she ... read more
how do you learn all this
this album is… existential, if that makes sense. it's mostly a showcase of how grimy and ugly alejandra's production can get, but with a beauty hidden underneath it that becomes more and more apparent as you keep prying and i don't think i need to explain what that could be an allegory for. it's a beautiful portrayal of a gut wrenching experience.

i love igorrr's combination of dark classical sounding, almost cinematic, kinda horror movie sounding melodies with breakcore drum programming . i'm not too familiar with ruby my dear but i am noticing a stronger balance of those two things, as opposed to igorrr's first few albums which are more bipolar, and even some dubstep elements? with the squelchy basslines and booming snares, which makes me like this even ... read more
i liked this a lot more on the first few listens bc it checks all the boxes of something someone like me (transfem autistic rhythm gamer) would like, but i gotta admit this album relies on hype and aura moments + tracks with features who carry the track… that's not to say the hype moments are *bad*, it's just that everything around them is underwhelming for all the genres touched upon and the dope ass cov—wait what's up with the text? oh.
