This is thoroughly traumatizing noise horror, and even with Halloween still a month off, it's hard to imagine a more terrifying album to come this year.
In the past, her work leaned more toward chaos, which often served her well, especially in her sense-assaulting live performances. But it's even stronger when she tightens the reins on her sound. The Drought is compelling because Hoffmeier is so clearly in charge.

the noises and sounds were really interesting but it came off a bit goofy at points, especially during the spoken word parts
Less than a year ago, I stayed back from any kind of noise "music" because.... It's just noise after all, right?
