Earl Sweatshirt - Live Laugh Love
69

It was good, ive never been the biggest earl sweatshirt fan, even though I do like some of his stuff. This just wasn’t my cup of tea, some great songs on it though don’t get me wrong

JID - God Does Like Ugly

Really solid project, has its ups and downs but the ups outweigh the downs

Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo 2
70

I liked it. Ive honestly never been a big fan of Alchemist’s production, it always just felt sort of repetitive. I still hold that opinion after hearing this album, but it was a good project regardless.

FAVORITE SONG: Ensalada. Really meaningful song, and Anderson .Paak’s feature was great.

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Skinny Suge II was kinda boring to me. Nothing about it stood out and it was sort of repetitive.

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS
75

UPDATE: After listening to the album a couple more times, this time with movement, I definitely appreciated it more.

I really want to endlessly glaze Tyler and say this is the album of the year. But I think either this album just isn’t hitting as hard for me as I hoped, or I just wasn’t in the right mood. I’m definitely gonna try again another time. The songs weren’t stylistically different enough for me to really have any standout tracks, even though it was objectively ... read more

Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out
90

Way exceeded my expectations. Every song was consistent in style, but none of them sounded so similar that it became boring. This was a no skip album for me.

FAVORITE: The Birds Don’t Sing was such a fantastic opening to the album, and such a unique sounding track.
LEAST FAVORITE: Let God Sort ‘Em Out/Chandeliers just didnt do it for me production wise. Kinda bored me tbh.

Great album

Westside Gunn - 12

Album was really boring IMO. Almost all of the songs had really similar beats, and they just looped for the entirety of the song with little to no change in them. There were no standout lyrics to me or anything. Album was just mid. Not a lot I can say. Also the yapping after every song got old.

FAVORITE TRACK: dump world at least felt like whoever made the beat put some passion into it.
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: i fell asleep for a second during veert. Just the same loop over and over again, ... read more

The Weeknd - Hurry Up Tomorrow

EDIT: Bloated

Really good. The production is great, and Abel is a great composer. Don't get me wrong, he's got a good voice and he can write a good hook, but the composition of this album as a whole is incredible. It flows really well. There are some parts where it dragged on a little too long, and the album itself could've been shorter. It for sure had some filler songs. Not that that's a bad thing, those filler songs weren't even the ones I ranked lowest. Still ... read more

Mac Miller - Balloonerism

I heard a lot of people saying this was the best posthumous release they'd ever heard. I don't think I'd go that far, Circles still holds that spot for me. But this album blew my expectations out of the water. I'd never personally been too big of a fan of this era of Mac's music, but hearing some of these lyrics after his death hit different. The production and tone stays consistent throughout. It's extremely experimental, which isn't something you usually get ... read more

twenty one pilots - The Line (from the series Arcane League of Legends)

This is definitely a new sound for 21 Pilots, but it is extremely soundtracky. The army-style snare drum towards the end was cool, and the production was really good and smooth. One thing I would say is that the end feels sort of basic to this type of song. But I'll cut it some slack, because I'm sure there are some restrictions when you're writing a song for a soundtrack.

Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA
90

This album was great on the first listen, and every single time I hear it it gets better and better. St. Chroma is a great opening song, and one of my favorites on the album. Rah Tah Tah is a really fun track, the only reason I put it at 82 instead of something higher is because it's a really hard song to just put on, you know? Like I can't really imagine many times where I'm gonna be trying to establish a vibe that Rah Tah Tah fits into. I Killed You would be lower down on my ... read more

Childish Gambino - Bando Stone and The New World

This album grows on you. The first time I listened to it, I thought it was good, but I wasn't blown away. But the more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it. I was actively disliking H3@RT$ W3RE M3@NT TO F7¥ the first time I heard it. Not anymore! Lithonia is an amazing song, but it was an interesting choice for a first single because it doesn't really match the vibe of any other song on the album. My theory is that Real Love is gonna be one of the songs that was written by Bando in ... read more

This song goes so hard it's insane

Imagine Dragons - LOOM
48

It’s alright. Some of these songs feel very uninspired, like the singer was given the beat and he wrote down some emo phrases that rhymed. If fits with the rest of imagine dragons work though, and I mean what can I say: they found something and stuck with it. For the most part at least. Nice to Meet You, which is surprisingly my second highest rated song on this album, feels like the band heard the type of summertime music that was blowing up at the moment, Espresso and the like, and ... read more

James Blake - Bad Cameo
70

I went into this album not expecting to enjoy it too much. I had never heard of James Blake, and I had never been a Lil Yachty fan. This album definitely surpassed my expectations. It didn’t leave me awestruck, but I enjoyed it. Honestly an album like this is what we need right now. Everything is so chaotic in the world it’s nice to have an album released by a big artist that is just calm. The instrumentals were solid throughout most of the album. At some points the lyrics felt just ... read more

Eminem - Tobey

This song is the definition of mid. There's really no way to say it's good or bad, because it all balances out. Every single time there's a point where I started to get into it, something always happened to just make me lose interest. Even if that something was the fact that it was the same thing happening over and over again. I think Eminem has proven time and time again that he can carry a song with an uninteresting beat with pure lyricism. But this song is not it. With Houdini ... read more

Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
65

There's good things about this album, but it's still just alright imo. A log of these lyrics feel kind of stream of consciousness, like she just thought of random phrases about heartbreak then crammed them into spaces that would fit in a song. When lunch came out and everyone was raving about it, I decided to save it for the whole album. I was really underwhelmed. The song does what it set out to do, but it really doesn't feel like it set out to do much. It's repetitive, and ... read more

Eminem - Houdini

It's fun at it's best and at it's worst it's heavily mid. The Slim Shady references are cool in theory, but I think he's trying too hard to go back to a style that he grew out of years ago. Done in the right way, that could make for an incredible album. But this song isn't giving me much hope. Honestly though It's better than a lot of his other newer stuff, the production is great, and I can see myself listening to this from time to time.

twenty one pilots - Clancy
90

Extremely good album. It only really falls short of Trench for me in one sense, which would be that Clancy doesn’t flow as nicely as Trench does. Otherwise this is on par with their best work yet. This album isn’t a return to trench in a musical sense, which I think overcompensate sort of set us up for, but this album is good enough on its own without having to be compared to any past album. All of the songs took me a little longer to fully appreciate than the other albums, but on ... read more

Childish Gambino - Atavista
82

Gambino brought this album up to another level. It's insane. It's rare in this album that the writing gets slightly boring, but whenever it does the production blows you away. It starts out strong with two incredible tracks, and then it's a steady album the rest of the way through. I was getting towards the end and thinking there wouldn't be a 100 rating on here, and then I got to Final Church. That song has incredible lyrics, incredible flow, and somehow the production quality is even better ... read more
