i am one of the losers who thinks this is better than carrie and lowell, and sufjan’s second best album overall after illinois.
this album is a weirdly comforting favorite of mine.
i consider all for myself to be maybe my favorite sufjan song of all time, and the closer, while being ABSURDLY long, packs so much into it, and i never fail to fully enjoy every second of it whenever i listen to it, which is not a lot because, need i remind you, it’s ABSURDLY long.

my most anticipated album of the back half of the year, and it definitely delivered. surround sound is probably the best single of the year so far.
i don’t know wtf to rate this but i guess it was a fun listen 👍
literally some of the worst vocals i’ve ever heard, creating some truly unlistenable garbage. god did not kill rock and roll, you did, brendan urie.
it’s hard to be funky when you’re not feeling sexy and it’s hard to feel sexy when you’re not very funky 😔
i think i can feel confident in saying that this might be my favorite album of all time, and the predatory wasp of the palisades might just be the most beautiful song in history.
words can’t describe how this album makes me feel, so i’m just gonna leave it at that. thank you sufjan.
favorite tracks:
the predatory wasp of the palisades is out to get us (10/10)
john wayne gacy, jr (10/10)
casimir pulaski day (9/10)
i mean, this is just good music. the features all killed it (including russ?!?!?)
i’m at the jamba juice, i’m at the therapist, i’m at the combination jamba juice and therapist.
thanks to fantano for bringing this album to my attention. with both this and cave world being some of my favorite albums of the year, i think hyper-specific indie rock comedy albums are my newfound favorite niche sub-genre of music
some of my favorite production of this year, which i REALLY didn’t expect coming into it. absolutely ethereal and extremely enjoyable to listen to. one of my new favorites of the year.
not sure i like this era of beyoncé personally, but there are still some standouts on the album
(edit: 66 -> 76) okay this bangs
music to wash the dishes to (interpret that however you would like to).
some good songs, but i found a lot of it going in one ear and straight out the other.
