This album is filled with interesting production ideas that would actually be good if it was made less than like 50 years ago. The album has too many moments that feel murky and sharp and overall suffers from being made when it was.

good kid, m.A.A.d city is an album filled with very high highs and some low lows. It fails to carry the momentum of the earlier songs and suffers from a weak middle that only picks up in the last 3 songs. The album’s production is lush, beautiful and creative at best but poorly mixed and cheap sounding at its worst with generic chops and lack of innovation throughout some of the longer songs.

Whilst this album explores cool and interesting ideas that I admit were most likely novel when this was released 50 years ago, to me this album drags and turns into an unbelievably bad and boring experience.

I find the first half album of the album amazing. Its production is vibrant and beautiful in large parts due to the bass from Thundercat. There are unique and innovative ideas production-wise throughout this first half; however, at times I find these ideas repeated too often and this only becomes more frequent throughout the latter half.
