i like portrayal of guilt but this was pretty awful. while im not against bands evolving their sound, i don't think im ever gonna like it when a band takes a more nu metal approach. the production is also terrible, everything sounds so unfinished. im just not hearing what everyone else is hearing
it baffles me that this is their most popular album when it's not nearly as good or interesting as the previous two. i guess it's their most accessible and mature release but that's not what i look for in mr. bungle's music. the only track that really stood out to me was "goodbye sober day"
what i thought was just gonna be a dumb stoner metal album ended up featuring some of the most beautiful and interesting pieces of music i've ever heard
without a doubt the most unhinged and outlandish album i've ever heard in my life. truly the epitome of weird, and there's not a single second where that weirdness feels forced because mike patton is genuinely just like that. incredible drum work from danny heifetz too
i expected this to be much worse but despite its flaws, it's a pretty solid comeback album. i really enjoyed some of these tracks, more specifically "superhero," "motherfucker" and "from the dead" but i can't see myself revisiting this as much as their previous albums. it's good but it's nothing special tbh
leonardo dicaprio pointing gif
this album has some of faith no more's best tracks such as "stripsearch," "last cup of sorrow" and "ashes to ashes" but overall, it's the weakest of their 90s records and it's quite hit-or-miss. it's decent but it's nowhere near as good or memorable as the previous three albums
following up their synth-heavy magnum opus "angel dust," faith no more keep up the chaotic energy with almost an hour of full-on unhinged rock laced with smooth, lounge-like tunes. this album really captures the best of mike patton's vocal range as he constantly switches from soulful, r&b-esque performances to maniacal screeching. by the time you've heard "cuckoo for caca," you start to realise why he was asked to voice the infected in left 4 dead
a nasty start to a nasty discography. being the only world peace album to have a guitar, it's got a much thicker hardcore punk sound than the rest of their releases and it's definitely their most violent record too
finally, a masked band that actually sounds good and doesn't use their gimmick to make up for mediocre music. i saw someone describe this as "bacteria music" and i couldn't have described it better myself
exactly the type of album you'd expect from a self-proclaimed "shit terrorist"
a huge step-up from their debut, the instrumentation on here is fantastic but the vocals still suck and sometimes it's impossible to look past how awful they are
quite a forgettable album, especially in comparison to everything else i've heard from the band. the production quality is an improvement from their debut but unfortunately the same can't really be said for the music itself
much like meshuggah's "nothing," this has arguably done irreparable damage to modern prog, and yet it's still a great album. animals as leaders are one of the few instrumental prog bands that do a good job of balancing technical wankery with actual nice melodies. there's the odd filler track but overall i quite enjoyed this record
whole album is just banger after banger after banger. the first five tracks in particular are an incredible run of songs. it's insane that they can go from the rap rock hit "epic" to a more catchy pop rock tune like "falling to pieces" to full on thrash in "surprise! you're dead!" back to back and actually make it work too. there'll never be another band like this
im glad that the mathcore duo that's been all over my instagram feed have finally dropped some music. an instrumental mathcore band, and one you can actually mosh to as well, is something i've never heard before so this is a breath of fresh air. i just wish the tracks were a bit longer but overall not a bad debut ep
sometimes you just have to give in and listen to that band with the insufferable fanbase. dystopia offers a raw and uncomfortable listening experience with misanthropic, politically-charged lyrics covering just about everything there is to be mad about. how this ended up in the hands of tiktok posers is beyond me
