it's hard to review stuff like this when just about every track sounds the exact same but this is a pretty solid grindcore album with plenty of groove too. there's a good balance between the violently noisy extreme metal side and the moments which tap into the genre's hardcore roots. also "hpv lovecraft" is an incredible song title
after three listens, im finally starting to get it. sometimes it drags on a bit but when it's good, it's really fucking good
long goodbye do a fantastic job at reviving 2000s metalcore with a modern twist. some of the riffs on this ep are a huge step-up from their debut and there are moments which really fill the sysc-shaped hole in my heart, especially in the closing track
grindcore bands have always combined elements from a multitude of genres but i've yet to hear a grindcore album as chameleonic as this one. the way they constantly leap from violent riffs and face-ripping blast beats to old school hardcore punk grooves while also sounding atmospheric at times makes wormrot truly one of a kind
imagine being alive in 1970 and hearing that evil ass opening riff for the first time
most bands would have lost their spark at this point in their career but the hives are just as electrifying and unapologetically rowdy as they were in the 2000s. sure, they might be a one trick pony but the trick is really good so i can't complain. it has its weak moments here and there but overall i had a lot of fun listening to this album
it's fun and groovy but after the first few tracks it starts to become a bit stale
this is nova twins' third album and they've had almost no development in their sound in over a decade of making music. they've just been recycling the same song over and over again since their debut ep in 2016
