This album is an absolute gem and a benchmark in rap history as one of the greatest storytelling/concept albums ever! It's certainly not short of features which to me is a highlight of the album. As well as the unique beats that keep things interesting and the sounds he uses are great. I love the old timey and orchestral samples he often uses throughout the album. Whoever produced this album did absolutely amazing, they really put their all into this. It's like I'm listening to ... read more
This is certainly one of the strangest projects I have listened to in awhile. Not in a bad way of course, I love how psychedelic it is! To me the part of this project that stands out the most is definitely the vocals. They have a lot of cool heavy effects it's like shoegaze, but with the vocals instead of the guitars. Very interesting! The instrumentals are pretty good too, definitely psychedelic, but I feel like sometimes they kind of bring the song down with how random they are. Overall ... read more
This to me is the absolute pinnacle of Mitski's sound. I have never heard an album so raw, so real and just putting everything out there for the world to see. I am in love with it, many of the songs start calm and get loud, almost like the progression of a panic attack or manic episode. I love more rock centric Mitski and this album is really full of it. The production is crunchy, even in the calmer ... read more
To me this album seems heavily underrated especially for how good it is as such an early project! I really appreciate seeing where her journey you can see bits and pieces of future albums to come that are more fleshed out from ideas of this album. She definitely touches a lot more on anxiety in this album than her others, especially with the instrumentation! I LOVE how she uses the production and instruments to really sell the feeling of anxiety or a panic attack in a lot of the songs on here! ... read more
Sincere Engineer I had never heard until I had seen them in concert when they opened for The Front Bottoms. I was expecting similar music to the main act as openers, but I was very surprised to hear something completely different than anything I've ever heard of. A mix of punk rock and midwest emo blended together perfectly. I will admit her vocals were rough live, but the energy was there and it was enough for me to listen to this album, where I must say, her vocals shine. They're ... read more
