John Lennon - Imagine
NR

John Lennon provides us with an utopian idea of a better world we could live in. This dream of a world where love and peace take the center stage, where religious and political tensions occur no more. Unfortunately, such world undermines the very fundaments our society is built on.

Humans have always feared the unknown. They've always needed answers, needed a purpose to their miserable lives that wasn't just reproduction and survival. Despite the many advances we've ... read more

Frank Sinatra - Songs for Swingin' Lovers!

Don't get me wrong, I like Frank Sinatra as much as the next guy! The dude's got it all: a handsome voice, a killer smile, the ability to immediately be recognized by different generations on the radio, amazing instrumentations following his white teeth and clean suit everywhere. Despite it all, I'm forced to pull off the Elvis card and say that I much prefer Sinatra in small doses, his most popular singles being the main example. The warmth of fire, relaxing tightest muscles;
The sofa you wish you could never leave;
Coffee and cream, sure to hit that sweet spot;
And thus, the comfort of HOME.

This album feels like home.

The harmonies on "Lovin' Time" were easily the most enjoyable part of this record. But maybe I'm just not a fan of rockabilly-type singing as a whole. Please let me know if you can think of any song/album that could change my mind!

Louis Prima - The Wildest!

Louis Prima can swing like nobody!

This performer was deemed unfit for military service during World War II due to a knee injury, only to continue bending the knees of any American family with a sense of rhythm, this record being his most notable work. It is 32 minutes of groove, embodying sounds of the swing movement yet not lacking in newly-emerging rock and roll energy of the time.

If I were to describe Prima as a musician in two words, it’d be passionate and flexible. The man kept ... read more
