This might be tied for my favorite Brent Faiyaz project. You really can hear the evolution in his overall sound coming off of WASTELAND and onto Icon in this mixtape, and that he made it in that perfect sweet spot in the transition that this sounds like a whole new artist with the same voice, and that's amazing. Just his artistic evolution would be enough to kneel beside this mixtape, but of course there's just so much more that needs to be mentioned. Firstly, the cohesion. For a ... read more
Olivia Dean is the 2025 singer of the year. The absolute stunning vocals on this album mix pop with soul, and top it off with emotional progression and maturity over the course of the 30 minute runtime this album has. Doesn't drag, not too short, just perfect. Every song is so beautifully sequenced and sorted to make one of the most beautiful and cohesive album experiences in modern times. If we gave Views the same chance as Take Care and Nothing Was The Same, it would be up there to more people than just me. This ... read more
Let me ask you a question. Have you ever been to the UK? Nevermind that— Picture yourself waking up and peering out of your window. The bustle of morning traffic is loud, it doesn't wait for anyones schedule as you stretch your hands to the ceiling. The sky is white, the asphalt and concrete that make up the roads and sidewalks are thinly caked in water as small drops of rain slowly fall from higher-up tree leaves onto the already saturated green grass below. You take your time to ... read more
