Mannn, never been a massive fan of thrash but this fucking kicks ass — lots of great guitar work, riffs and very interesting solos, filthy bass sound and pretty good vocals.
Ripping Corpse is a perfect banger to start off, Riots of Violence is this dynamic, almost beautiful track with those guitars and little gasps for air, The Pestilence is absolutely brilliant throughout, that first riff there, can't describe the face I made when I heard it, didn't fw the first half of Carrion ... read more
This album occasionally — with tracks like Charlotte, on those clean vocal passages contrasted with the stoner-ish guitars — reminds me of these zoomergaze/alt metal bands such as Superheaven and Fleshwater, rather ahead of their time; was expecting a standard-sounding late 90s nu-metal album but this is fun, even if it steps back and feels a little dated and tired because of shit like Suck and Trippin, the album comes on again with more interesting ideas on tracks like Do You Think ... read more
This is some Eyes Wide Shut type of horror with these arrangements, as they manage to have the orchestra peek in at the right moments to somehow make the music even darker and heavier once the guitars hit, building this strangely cultish sound paired with the clean cut, polished demon on the cover, as if Hell was some collection of infinite porcelain rooms with endless, meticulous methods of torture practiced on every victim there, even if no drop of blood stains the white floors for too long: ... read more
Pretty fun, even if it does get you a bit numb after while, but ends before it gets too much on ya
Across the tracklist, I found real difficult to think of a set that didn't deliver and flesh out every idea it could have, you come out truly satisfied with each one of them by the time the outro hits; smooth, intelligent use of these melodic phrases, riffs and passages against the sheer brutality of the sound's death metal side (rather classy take on the guitar tone there, by the way), truly elevates every single track that does it well because of this dramatic effect and impressive ... read more
They're really at their top when they get gritty slow and weird like Human Terror, Object of Pain and the second half of Under Siege, can't say the same personally when they go dumb heavy-fast like most of Heaven's Gate, for example; feels like they're just trying to collect random metal genres as well with some sections within songs or short snippets — like Chamber with this rapping and nu-metal style —, which I thought was done without much coherence at this ... read more
This shit pretty heavy but id gone off with some more diversity there — as you do get a little numb after a while — and a not so loud kick, those bass stand were a tad strange as well; maybe slam got to be a mood I have to be in sometimes.
Love the random gory flicks here and there too, pretty gruesome; also goddamn what a great pan snare they got being destroyed occasionally
Going into this with the mindset of a traditional stoner metal sound is a terrible thing to do, drumming is great though, even if the songs beat around and never do much with all the ideas there
Damn right catchy, great production and performances: all around solid kpop album; though i have to say, it kinda dips a little for me in terms of enjoyment past Licorice
