Instrumentally this album does a bunch of cool things. I really liked the contrasts between guitar and synth that it uses, I just think it was disengaging for a lot of its runtime. I tried to follow the story of the album, but by the end it felt like it didn't even have one. Cool, but nothing more for me.
The production in this album is routinely unconventional and great, the issue is I'm just not a fan of this old-school, boom-bap, hippity hoppity, poorly leveled, peacocking style of rap that drives me away from a lot of artists.
3 Fav Songs: Making Planets, Rock and Roll, Smile
This is the first time I’ve listened to the Lemon Twigs. I enjoyed it, but immediately started drawing the parallels to The Smiths, Peter Paul and Mary, etc. which kind of feels like I’m not giving them a fair shot. I enjoyed it for what it is, but maybe if this was my first impression with this style I would have enjoyed it more.
Fav Songs: Ghost Run Free, Corner of my Eye, Any Time of Day
Packed top to bottom with incredible songs. Cole’s most mature writing and his most uniquely beautifully produced.
Favs:
The Fall Off is Inevitable
Only You
Quik Stop

Lonely At the Top
(Writing this I realize I could put the whole album in this bih omg)
This album feels like being stuck in a smoky jazz bar with the worst people in the world while you’re all unknowingly fed amphetamines. I like it a lot.
