Genre inconsistencies aside, Effected is a clear statement Cozz doesn’t just want to be the conversation with the best rappers. He wants to steer the debates.

He’s precocious enough to examine himself and the dynamics affecting him, but still too young, or too inexperienced, to articulate a distinct artistic vision.

Even though I think this album is average at best, I still think it was a decent album. I liked Kendrick and Cole's feature on the album and Cody's flow on the album was fresh. The overall album has a good message, especially for young hustlers out there trying to make it in life. Downside: There isn't really a 'happy' song on this, mainly contemplative songs as if the artist is grasping for something that he just is not reaching yet.
Effected exhibits growth but replay value might be limited... we'll see.

Stand out tracks: Zendaya, Bout It, That's The Thing and Effected.

Rap needs a savior, he thinks he can be it but no one had heard of him.
And that is a real shame because cozz's conscious lyrics and jazzy production let you know that saving the rap game is upon him. Yes, sometimes this LP lacks originality, but he makes it up by being a top lyricist and a rapper who's flow is a joy to listen to.

Best Tracks: All are good but the standouts are the ones featuring cole&k.dot
