Throwing Muses are the counterpart-- or maybe the antidote-- to the driven, enraptured solitude of her solo material; they deliver a release and an excitement that's been missing from her work for years.
Beginning with their provocative 1986 debut of the same title, the Throwing Muses has been a spotty band of marginal performance. Given the abstract quality of the lyrics found on the debut, one has to wonder about the relevance of mood altering drug intake in order to create. 'The Real Ramona' is a priceless classic which for me, spelled the end of the truly creative element that made this band so fantastic. 'Hate My Way'...
