Throwing Muses is my dad's favourite band, and in my 23 years of life I'm ashamed to say I've never set aside the time to properly listen to them, despite being passively exposed to them throughout my childhood and seeing Kristin Hersh live multiple times with my dad. There's some really great tunes on here like Rabbits Dying, but the record mostly feels like a glimpse into feminist indie in the 1980s. If post-punk is your thing, specifically the kind where it drones for a bit and the vocalist is mostly talk-singing, you might enjoy this more than I. Another entry into the alternative rock scene of a Boston that no longer exists.
I have never heard of Throwing Muses before, but they seem to be somewhat of an influential band on the author of the 1001 albums to hear before you die list as they are included not once, but twice on the list. This band's discography for the most part is very easy to find with the exception of their self titled debut album which I had to do some digging for, but once it was uncovered again I was pleasantly surprised with what it had to offer in full.
