The bouncy breakdowns captured on Everything Rots do attempt to raise the bar, but meet somewhere as a evolution of Emmure's sound. The chugs and squeals become so rhythmic that it taps into that big jam. The back half of the record picks up the bit, but a bit of a flat listen all around.

Some of the album is typical down tempo guitars and cookie monster vocals. Other parts just Slipknot adjacent. But there are some moments of Cabal experimenting with fun riffs and electronic sounds that stick out more. The features as well, I like the use of each of them. I just don't know how much I'd come back to this given how many songs sound similar and how hard they can be to differentiate.
