With surefire dance floor and stadium hits, NOVA is bound to resonate with audiences worldwide.

RL Grime seemingly wants to keep everyone happy and while that approach will almost certainly find success in the clubs or the fields of Coachella it often hinders rather than helps his studio efforts.

The Guardian

Home listening it’s perhaps not. In the afternoon heat of a gargantuan Californian festival, though, tracks from Nova are likely to bring teenage EDM fans with a sweet tooth for beefed-up Top 40 rap bangers together, in head-shaking, fist-pumping ecstasy.

Spectrum Culture

There are two Henry Alfred Steinways at work here and they’re at war with each other. There’s the one that loves bass music and there’s the one that loves the idea of mass appeal.

The sonic makeup of Nova is split between nasty bass workouts and straightforward pop, but Steinway seems incapable of distinguishing himself as a producer in either mode.

Some absolutely insane and amazing track (Rainer, Pressure, Reims...) combined with some very mediocre ones (Undo, Take It Away...). That's really unfortunate, cause this album had the potential to be the best album of 2018, but mediocre songs drag it down.

RL Grime moved away from Void which is good. People evolve. I did not want a VOID part 2. Why? This one goes more into a pop-ular direction which is nothing bad for me. I love great vocals / trap and here you can find plenty of great vocal tracks. I still need to listen to it more but so far so good. If ya looking for VOID-like songs check out "Feel Free / Pressure / Era" and skip the others. For me one of the best albums of this year so far. Recommended.

If you like late 2010 vibes and festival bass then this is the album for you. Sure it falls flat with some songs like 'Pressure' and 'Era' but songs like 'Light Me Up', 'OMG', 'Undo', and 'UCLA' make a college dorm room feel like ULTRA 2019. That being said this is not the most re-listenable album ever and some songs are truly corny and bad but there are some playlist gems here for teens and college kids who enjoy some EDM.
