This album is a complete void of emotion and music itself. It's really the only thing you can really say, cause the "music" on it is utterly boring and as generic as possible. There are absolutely no original ideas or anything that makes it "A Taylor Album". It's just an overly clean generic folk, that can work for a soundtrack for some shitty "Sad and Smart" movie for 14-year olds. First impressions after multiple relistens and a few days after it released: Sounds like a good, but imperfect fan attempt of recreating the boc sound, not like a single you release after complete radio silence for like 13 years. Could've sworn they broke up? Anyways, this is by far their least interest release. The "Basspunk" duology was never the strongest showing in the whole indie sleaze revival scene. It took the basic appeal and groove of crystal castles and played it in a more club oriented aesthetics. But it's not like they were the first to do it, or even the most interesting ones to do it. All the people complaining about the supposed "maximalism" of this album can fuck off right into their minimalism safe space with one table and nothing else, eat a piece of white bread with no taste and go jerk off to that Terry Davis quote for the fifth time of day.
