COMMONWEALTH INDIE-ROCK... WHY?

This work by the Australians arouses two strange opposite sensations in me, because I expected something very different...

If on the one hand I recognize good music, for which I should assign at least a sufficient score, on the other I wonder why a sound like this... let me explain better.

It's very 90's and it vocally reminded me of White Lies and even U2. There are some really lovely moments, especially when the sax joins in, although there are a couple of more cheesy songs, like 'Buoyant', that aren’t quite my favorite. But the melodies are still amazing nevertheless. I also appreciate that there are female background vocals in most of the songs; they really add a nice, soft touch. I was wowed by this Australian band on my streaming series Bandwidth, where I heard influences spanning Nick Cave, The Killers, and a lot of jangling post-punk, where the production didn’t give them a lot to work with but the composition was rock solid.
