This album really tried. It really tried to be something but it could not escape the cringe that rid over my face during half the thing. It started out interesting to me. I had high hopes. The intro track was ominous and seemed to set the stage for a broader narrative, one where people are stuck out in a cold front, hoping to survive. Eisbrecher is one of those groups that really erupted as something of a superteam in NDH, moving the genre away from the harsh, thin guitar mixes and synth presets of OOMPH! and Rammstein, and towards a direction more in line with the electronic side of the genre's family tree. There are like one, maybe two solid riffs on here and my god these lyrics are beyond bad. They're awful. I did not have any fun listening to this album. It feels like Schlager with NDH influences. I think these songs can work live in concert but god no they don't work as a studio version.
Zeitgeist literally has to be the song with the worst german lyrics since wap bap - still few miles to hit that - but there were moments I just wanted to throw away my headphones and scream.
