Evolve is a confident and deeply expressive album. Ani DiFranco continues to push her sound forward, blending jazz, folk, spoken word, and groove in a way that feels natural and alive. The production is warmer and fuller than some of her earlier work, and it suits her evolving style perfectly.

Undeniably one of Ani's best albums sound quality-wise : the production on this record is crisp and clean. However, unlike with previous albums, this one is missing the usual bite and emotion that usually makes her music so unique (whether it be anger or sadness) : other than the track "Serpentine", there really aren't any emotional peaks to be had.
