Amorphis are masters of their own domain, and "Borderland" is another remarkably rousing addition to one of the most impressive catalogues in all of heavy music. Laudable behavior.
Borderlands is as amorphous as, well, Amorphis. Wouldn’t you know: Amorphis in another stellar triumph shocker.
Borderland may be front-loaded, but the overall quality is there, the highs are high, the lows aren’t too low, and most songs leave an imprint on the ear.

Amorphis today?
On the one hand, they are custodians of a mythical and spiritual imagery that remains unchanged, on the other, musicians who adapt to contemporary languages โโwithout losing their distinctive style.
Could this be the "Borderland" the title suggests?
The album recounts an initiatory journey, a path that traverses human transience and the spirit world until the rediscovery of inner harmony.

Pretty damn good album from a band that has been at it with this style for a few decades now. Amorphis' folky prog sound has been hit or miss with me in the past, but here, basically every song is led by some satisfying melodies and good vocal hooks by both vocalists. The singles are great (track 2,3,4,7) but I do get a bit uninterested in the rest, despite them still being relatively pleasant to listen to
