Ulver played together with Sunn O))) on Terrestrials from 2014, and in some ways they are soul mates. But where Sunn supports their drone soundscapes with high volume, heavily distorted guitars and nó drums, Ulver leans heavily on drums. Also their sound is not as thick and meditatively monotone, but offers more variety without losing focus. Drone Activity, with just 4 pieces of over 15 minutes each is nothing less then a majestic masterpiece that deserves to be heard by a large audience.
I can see the appeal, but not much drone music appeals to me all that much. There's nothing wrong with the material on Drone Activity, it's just not really for me.
