It’s been a minute since I’ve made a review, but here I am now!
I believe that 1st Wave black metal is underrated, and for a good reason. 2nd Wave Black Metal made the genre popular along with many European countries like Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Greece, Poland, and England. But 2nd Wave Black Metal wouldn’t have gone so popular if it wasn’t for 1st Wave.

The groundwork for what Celtic Frost would become is very clearly laid on this release. 4 songs of just pummeling speed and raw power. Even the 9 minute song on the album is peak.

'the hell is that? For some it encompasses an actual musical movement, something that was intentionally happening, but in reality it is just a way of grouping bands that were steering the wheel of extreme music towards a certain direction.

i personally have some mixed opinions on celtic frost, their energy and aggression is definitely there, but their sound gets old really fast and start tiring me to death halfway through their albums. however !!!!!!!! hellhammer completely changed my mind on them, this ep fixes all issues i originally had with celtic frost and brings out some of the best first wave black metal i ever heard in my life. triumph of death is the main highlight here personally, being an extremely dark, heavy, ... read more
