I’ve heard emotional and depressing albums, but this one is so different in every way. It’s unbelievably detailed and raw with its poetry, to the point everything is told like Phil elverum is sitting in front of you discussing his trauma and emotional grief.

There’s so many lyrics that hit me in the gut, but the main one I can point to was one off of emptiness pt 2:

I wasn’t exactly prepared for a 35 minute long song, but god there’s so much experimentation it honestly holds its own

Definitely the most out there album the band has made, and that’s saying something coming from effusion

This man wrote samurai sword btw, it’s crazy just how much Phil evolved

Crust punk is the best
