It’s been a long, long decade since Blackout!, but this very worthy sequel proves worth the wait.

Entertainment Weekly

Hip-hop's own Cheech and Chong boast chemistry that's as powerful as ever on Blackout! 2, this belated follow-up.

AllMusic

The original deserves the top spot, but think of this as the Godfather Part II of reckless boom-bap rap and you've got an idea of how well this Blackout! satisfies.

PopMatters

Method Man and Redman don’t recapture the “lightning in a bottle” factor of the very first Blackout!; however, they do give their patiently waiting fans a solid disc of party anthems.

SPIN

As a sequel, Blackout 2 fails to move things forward; but as a revival, it’s a welcome blast.

Rolling Stone

On their first album in eight years, these How High stars seem every bit the pleasure-seekers they used to be.

Inferior to Blackout 1 in nearly every way.

This album feels more dated than the first Blackout, despite releasing a decade later. At one point in the album Redman is actually autotuned, and it's not good. Fortunately the duo has the type of flow, Method Man especially, that sounds good even over mediocre production. Through it all, there are two bangers on here: 'Dangerous MCees' and 'Father's Day'.

A step down from the OG in both replayability and consistency, still alright but lots of generic tracks here and auto tuned Redman isn't it.

Not as good as the original blackout but still a solid follow-up and both are still entertaining as hell together the only knockback on this thing is the overuse of Autotune some of the Redman’s vocals on this LP and some dated production but this is still really fun.
